Night and day, rain or shine, the lamp sat glittering in the window. Joi sometimes wondered why the owner of the Neohome would leave the lamp turned on at all hours, but at the same time, walking past the window every day on her way around town and seeing it glistening there was kind of a comfort.

The morning started much like any other — Nikh got out of his cosy, warm Tyrannian Fur Bed (reluctantly, he had to admit), fluttered his wings a few times to limber them up, then flew downstairs for a quick breakfast, and from there went straight out into the garden. As he flew past his Nimmo Lily Pond, he said "Good morning" to the Curious Blumaroo Gnome that perched on its bank as he always did.
